It’s been a bit windy this week which for some reason reminded me of hats so I thought I would make some pretty hats.
Make from shortbread and decorated these colourful hats bought a smile to my face.
Last weekend I went up to London with my Mam and as a treat I got to go to The Hummingbird Bakery and try out their “black bottom cupcake” that I’ve read great reviews about.
The Black bottom cupcake is a chocolate cupcake with pieces of cheesecake in the cupcake topped with a cream cheese icing.
It was one of the nicest cupcakes I have ever tried! Because it was so nice I wanted to have a go at making one. and so this week I made Black Bottom cupcakes in the style of sheep (just because I like sheep)
They turned out really well and taste just like I remember them from the bakery.
Hope you all had a great weekend and I can’t wait to see you next Wednesday with my technical bake ohhhh and of course it’s episode one of The Great Sport Relief Bake Off
After such a disaster last week I decided to try out French Fancies again.
This time they worked out better because I made some changes.
1. The cakes weren’t as tall because I baked them this time in a larger tin which meant the mixture spread out more so they weren’t as tall as last week.
2. I covered the cakes with butter icing on five sides but last week I only covered the top. This meant that the icing stuck to the cake better.
3.The fondant was smother because I spilt the icing into batches so I didn’t get lots cake crumbs in the icing.
4. I googled lots of sites to find out the best way to make French fancies and also the best way to do the fondant icing fondant .
So this week I’m much happier with my bake.
